ABOUT US

Sree Sabareesa College Murukkumvayal situated in the central part of Kerala on the border of Kottayam and Idukki district and established in 2017 is considered as India's first aided Arts and Science College run by tribal management. The college governed by Mala Araya Educational Trust (MET) is under the mother organization Aikya Mala Araya Maha Sabha (AMAMS), a tribal welfare organization of tribal people which is working together with Mala Araya tribal population in Kerala.

MANAGEMENT

SreeSabareesa College Mrurkkumvayal is India’s first aided Arts & Science College run by Mala Araya Educational Trust (MET) under the mother organization Aikya Mala Araya MahaSabha (AMAMS) – a tribal community development organization. The college offers higher education programmes for the students who are socially and economically backward with special reference to tribal geographical locations and strives to mainstream the students with national and international level job opportunities. The College is managed by Mala Araya Educational Trust (MET), an educational charitable trust formed by the Aikya Mala Araya Maha Sabha (AMAMS) for uplifting the educational status of Indian tribal people through high quality higher education, multiple skill emancipation and social mainstreaming.

To rebuild the auspicious academic environment of Indian tribal community through quality higher education incorporated with tribal culture, multiple skill emancipation, socio – political mainstreaming and self-actualization.

The center of excellence is a multifaceted personality development program initiated by the management to build students as global citizen. Theme Centered Interactions, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Rural Development Camps, Life Skill Education, Counseling, Mental Health Services, Mentoring, Civil Service Motivation, National Cultural Exchange Programmes and Study Tours will be organized under the scheme – Centre of Excellence.

Profile of Mother Organization – AMAMS

Aikya Mala Araya Maha Sabha (AMAMS) is a tribal community development organization working together with Mala Araya community of Kerala State under the leadership of Shri. P K Sajeev (General Secretary) and Shri.C R Dileepkumar (State President).The Sabha addresses tribal development issues through AMAMS branches – which are formed by the participation of all the Mala Araya tribal community families at the local level. Mala Araya Women welfare organization, Mala Araya Youth welfare forum, Mala Araya Child Development Clubs, Tribal Welfare Cooperative Society, SreeAyyappa Spiritual Promotion Forum, and Mala Araya Educational Trust (MET) were associations formed and functioning under AMAMS to impart integrated development among the tribal community.

Governance

The college is owned and governed by the tribal welfare organization – Aikya Mala Araya Maha Sabha (AMAMS) which is a registered community organization for the upliftment of Indian Hill Tribal Community – Mala Araya. Mala Araya Women & Youth Welfare Organization, Balasabha, Mala Araya Educational Trust (MET) Tribal Welfare Cooperative Society, Sree Ayyappa Dharma Sangam etc. are the major organizations formed by AMAMS.

College Development Office

The office functions with the aim of raising fund for the college development and maintains effective relationship with the public. The office coordinates development projects, donations, grant in aids and financial assistance from different agencies for the college development.

Professional Development Programme

The college periodically conducts Faculty Orientation Programme(FOP), Administrative Staffs Training (AST), Student Development Services (SDS) to improve the leadership, managerial and administrative skills.
